Former Extreme, Van Halen vocalist turns to rock operas
Gary
Cherone, former vocalist for Extreme and
Van Halen will star in a stage adaptation of Pink
Floyd's "The Wall"
this autumn/winter.
Cherone will
play the part of Pink in a production that will open at The Schauer
Arts and Activities Center in Hartford, Wisc., on Nov. 29. The show
will move to the Scottish Rite in Milwaukee, Wisc., for a run Jan.
22 to Feb. 1, 2004.
Cherone's
biggest commercial success before replacing Sammy Hagar
in Van Halen was Extreme's #2 hit "More Than Words" in
1991. Cherone was with Van Halen from 1996 to '99.
The following
year he joined the Boston Rock Opera Co. to play Judas in the company's
production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" (above).
