| Syd
Barrett documentary released in North America
Region 1 DVD contains 25 minutes of extras
The Voiceprint
Group of Companies will release "The Pink Floyd and
Syd Barrett Story" as a Region 1 DVD in the United
States on Jan. 4. The title was made available to Canadian buyers
in late November.
The 49-minute
documentary focuses on Pink Floyd
co-founder Syd Barrett's time with the
band, and the years immediately following his departure from the
group.
In addition
to early performance footage, the documentary includes interviews
with each band member, except Syd, as well as with lesser known
players in the Floyd story: former band member Bob Klose,
lighting designer and former band landlord Mike Leonard,
Barrett's former girlfriend Libby Chisman, Barrett's
once flatmate Duggie Fields and others.
Robyn
Hitchcock and Graham Coxon, formerly of
Blur, provide three acoustic performances of Barrett songs.
The
documentary was released by Direct Video Distribution UK in the
spring of 2003 in Europe and Australia. It has subsequently
aired on the VH-1 cable channel.
The North
American release sports new cover artwork and bonus material not
included in the European/Australian release.
