"Inside Pink Floyd" offers album-by-album look at band
Classic
Rock Productions
has released "Inside Pink Floyd," a 2-DVD and hardcover
book offering "a critical review" of the band from 1967
to 1995.
Disc 1 covers
the band's early years from 1967 to '74. Disc 2 picks up at 1975
and goes through '95. The documentary as a whole runs approximately
90 minutes. It consists mostly of testimony from music critics,
musicians, still photographs and concert footage.
Archival interviews
with band members, video as well as audio-only, are included sparingly.
The production is not authorized or endorsed by the band, its management
or EMI Records.
The book contains
color photos and a track-by-track analysis of Floyd's recording
history starting at "The
Piper at the Gates of Dawn" (1967) and going through "The
Division Bell" (1994).
The "Inside"
series contains titles devoted to many other bands such as Black
Sabbath, Free, Led Zeppelin,
Genesis and Deep Purple.
"Inside
Pink Floyd" is available for purchase in PAL (European) and
NTSC (North American) formats at the Classic
Rock Productions Web site for $54. Audio-only versions of the
two DVDs are available on CD for $15.99 each.
