Gilmour
guests on Phil Manzanera album
Album boasts a near-reunion of Roxy Music
Pink
Floyd guitarist
David Gilmour will
appear on "6PM," the new album from Phil Manzanera,
guitarist for Roxy Music.
The album
will be released in the U.K. on July 19 by Expression Records through
Ryko/Hannabal. American release details are pending.
According
to a spokesperson from Expression Records, Gilmour plays on "Sacred
Days," the last element of the five-part "Cissbury Ring"
song cycle.
Manzanera
was guitarist for Roxy Music from 1971 until the band's split in
'83. "6PM," Manzanera's sixth solo album, includes contributions
from four of Roxy Music's founders: Brian Eno,
keyboards; Andy Mackay, sax; Paul Thompson,
drummer. Only vocalist Bryan Ferry is absent.
Manzanera
and Gilmour co-wrote "One Slip" on Floyd's "A
Momentary Lapse of Reason" (1987). The two also collaborated
on "Talk To Me," a song from "The Manzanera Collection"
(1995).
Other guests
on "6PM" include Gilmour collaborator Robert Wyatt
(Soft Machine) and Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders).
Manzanera
is planning a future album that will contain four outtakes from
"6PM." No word on whether any of those tracks will include
work from Gilmour.
