Big names in progressive rock participate in rerecording of Floyd
album
Purple
Pyramid will release "Back Against the Wall,"
a rerecording of Pink Floyd's "The
Wall" (1979) on Sept. 27.
The album
will include contributions from Ian Anderson, Adrian
Belew, Keith Emerson, Robby Kreiger,
Rick Wakeman, Tommy Shaw, Steve
Howe and others. Actor Malcolm McDowell
("A Clockwork Orange") will lend his voice to "The
Trial."
The project
is produced by Billy Sherwood (Yes). "My first
thoughts were to maintain the integrity and credibility of the original,"
he explains. "I felt it was best for the project to cull musicians
mostly from the progressive rock area of music."
Purple Pyramid
is a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records. The label
released "An All Star Lineup Performing the Songs of Pink Floyd"
in 2002.
