Gilmour to release album, tour
First
solo album from Pink Floyd guitarist
since 1984
Columbia
Records
will release David Gilmour's
"On an Island" on March 6. It'll be the first solo album
from Pink Floyd's guitarist since
1984's "About Face."
Gilmour has
also announced a series of concert dates, beginning with a show
in Dortmund, Germany, on March 10.
After the
European shows, he'll come to North America for a 10-show tour of
five cities. The North American leg begins April 4 with two nights
at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
"On an
Island" will feature guest appearances by David Crosby
and Graham Nash on the title cut, Floyd keyboardist
Rick Wright, Robert
Wyatt (Soft Machine), guitarist Phil Manzanera
(Roxy Music) and Jools Holland (Squeeze).
Gilmour produced
the album, along with Manzanera and Chris Thomas.
Orchestral arrangements were by Zbigniew Preisner.
