Barrett tribute concert slated for Sept. 18
Charity event to benefit diabetes organization
The band Mystery
Jets have organized a charity concert in memory of Syd
Barrett.
The event,
titled "What Colour Is Sound: A Tribute to Syd Barrett,"
will be held at Islington Union Chapel, and will feature Lupen
Crook, Kid Harpoon and Daniel
Treacy (Television Personalities).
Proceeds of
the event will benefit the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. Barrett, co-founder of
Pink Floyd, died July 7 after suffering
from diabetes.
Mystery Jets
will release the song "Scarecrows in the Rain," a tribute
to Barrett, on its "Diamonds in the Dark" EP Sept. 3.
Television
Personalities released their single "I Know Where Syd Barrett
Lives" in 1978.
