| David
Gilmour to release Syd Barrett cover
Three-song EP includes appearances by Rick
Wright, David Bowie
David
Gilmour will release a three-song EP as a tribute to
the late Syd Barrett,
the Pink Floyd co-founder who died
this past summer.
The disc will
include two versions of Barrett's "Arnold Layne," which
was the Floyd's first single in 1967.
One of the
new versions is a live version featuring vocals by David
Bowie, who appeared at one of Gilmour's concerts this summer
at Royal Albert Hall. The other will feature Floyd's Rick
Wright.
The third
song will be a Gilmour solo acoustic recording of "Dark Globe,"
a number from Barrett's "The
Madcap Laughs" (1970).
The songs
will be available as downloads Christmas Day, and then on CD the
following day.
