Goodman Books has published “The Art of Classic Rock,” a coffee table book by Paul Grushkin and Rob Roth.
The 256-page (5½-pound!) hardcover tome is a visual document of Roth’s 35-year collection of rock tour and advertising posters, merchandise, memorabilia and other artwork.
The book focuses on eight bands. The second chapter — 34 pages — is devoted to Pink Floyd.
Beautifully photographed and designed, the majority of the space on each page is filled with large, color reproductions of band memorabilia, with Grushkin’s narrative filling the spaces inbetween.
Grushkin is a leading rock historian and author of five books. Roth is a Tony-nominated Broadway director.
Other bands featured in the book are:
- The Rolling Stones
- The Who
- Led Zeppelin
- David Bowie
- Alice Cooper
- Elton John
- Queen
“The Art of Classic Rock” retails for £30. Buy it now online. Your purchase helps support “Floydian Slip.”

Music fans in Britain would like to see members of ’70s pop group ABBA reform more than Pink Floyd.
Music licensing firm PRS for Music conducted the poll of 1,500 Britons, which revealed 25 percent wished most for a reunion of Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Faltskog —better known as ABBA.
The Police were second in the survey (13 percent), with Floyd tied at number three with The Smiths (11 percent).
Here’s the top 10:
- ABBA
- The Police
- Pink Floyd
- The Smiths
- Oasis
- The Jam
- Dire Straits
- The Clash
- Spice Girls
- Sex Pistols
ABBA last performed live in 1982.
