Contest: Sign on and shine on winner

Posted January 24, 2011 by Floydian Slip

The winner of our first “Sign On and Shine On” Contest is Gary Wicke of Indianapolis, IN.

Gary gets the 2011 Pink Floyd wall calendar courtesy of Pyramid International.

The first installment of our ongoing campaign was targeted at 96.5 FM WKLH, trying a little crowd-sourcing to see if we couldn’t get Milwaukee’s rocker to pick up our weekly Pink Floyd show.

So far, no luck, but feel free to continue to email your support to WKLH’s Program Director.

We’ll announce our second “Sign On and Shine On” contest soon.

Congratulations, Gary!

Nick Mason encourages communication among labels, artists

Posted January 20, 2011 by Floydian Slip

Nick Mason is the subject of a brief story in Classic Rock magazine. The Pink Floyd drummer has joined Featured Artists Coalition, a group devoted to bettering communication among recording artists and their business side counterparts.

“There is a tendency for musicians to view labels as just people in suits, but we are trying to get the two sides to talk,” he says in the article, “because it can only be to everyone’s benefit.

“One thing we want to see is for labels either to explore more of their back catalogue, or to give the rights back to the artists. So many companies have material in their vaults they don’t even know exists.”

Let’s hope.
