random precisionNew book details career of Syd Barrett
"Random Precision" focuses on former Floyd frontman's recording history

Cherry Red Books of London has published "Random Precision: Recording the Music of Syd Barrett 1965-1974." The book by David Parker provides nearly 300 pages of details into Barrett's recording career — from his first semi-professional work with Pink Floyd in 1965 to his final efforts at Abbey Road in 1974.

Parker, former co-editor of Barrett fanzine "Chapter 24," spent five years researching and writing the book, based mostly on information culled from the official archives of EMI Records and Abbey Road Studios.

In diary format, the author weaves interviews with record producers and engineers who worked with Barrett, including Peter Jenner, Andrew King, Peter Brown, Alan Parsons and John Leckie.

"Random Precision" is available for purchase online from Cherry Red Books.
