Article's impetus is November release of "Echoes" compilation

The December issue of Guitar World magazine features Pink Floyd on its cover. The 34-column article by Alan di Perna focuses on "Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd" by analyzing the band's catalog of work that will appear on the album. "Echoes" will be released Nov. 6 in the United States.

A sidebar to the article, "Crazy Diamonds," quotes David Gilmour, Roger Waters and producer/engineers Alan Parsons and Bob Ezrin. They comment on the mechanics of recording some of Floyd's most celebrated tracks.

Guitar World put Floyd on its March 2000 cover, in anticipation of the release of "Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live."

Addendum: In its January issue, the magazine printed our letter to the editor referring to the article: "Alan di Perna's analysis of Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' is one of the best I've ever read. One minor correction, though: Floyd's fifth single was 'Point Me at the Sky,' not 'Point Me at the Stars.'"
