BBC
Radio 2 to air Pink Floyd documentary
Two-part radio program to contain exclusive interviews
BBC
Radio 2 will air "Wish You'd Been Here: A History of Pink
Floyd." The two-part documentary will begin Saturday, Feb.
2, at 8 p.m. GMT (3 p.m. ET).
The program
will be hosted by Bob Harris and will feature exclusive interviews
with band members David Gilmour,
Nick Mason, Roger
Waters and Richard Wright,
as well as associates of the band.
"You
will be able to listen to it online live," according to BBC
Radio 2 producer Mick Fitzsimmons, "and hopefully we'll
be putting an edited version of the program up on the Radio 2 Web
site after the programs go out."
Fitzsimmons,
who produces music elements for the Radio 2 Web site, says the on-demand
program will need to be edited "to cut the music down to a
length which won't infringe copyright. ... This isn't always easy
with music as lengthy as the Floyd's."
He predicts
the on-demand, archived version of the documentary will be available
in a couple of weeks.
BBC
Radio 2's Web site devoted to the documentary includes information
about the program, a biography of the group, as well as audio from
interviews with band members, and an interactive
favorite album poll.
Addendum:
Both
parts are now available through streaming audio at the BBC Radio
2 site.
