Waters to perform for tsunami relief
Pink Floyd co-founder confirmed for
NBC broadcast
Pink
Floyd co-founder Roger Waters
will perform Jan. 15 as part of an all-star concert to benefit victims
of the South Asian tsunami. Waters will perform "Wish You Were
Here" with Eric Clapton and backing vocalists
Katie Kissoon, Carol Kenyon and
PP Arnold.
The special
broadcast, "Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope," will air
at 8 p.m. PT on NBC; its sister networks, including SCI FI Channel;
Pax; and Telemundo.
Other artists
scheduled to perform include Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Diana
Ross, Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Mary
J. Blige, Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer, Kenny Chesney, India.Arie,
Tom Jones, Brian Wilson and Gloria Estefan.
Celebrities
scheduled to appear include Halle Berry, Kevin Spacey, Usher,
George Clooney, Uma Thurman, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael
Douglas, Bruce Willis, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, Tim Robbins,
Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes.
Funds raised
from the telethon portion of the event will go to the American
Red Cross International Response Fund to benefit victims of
the tsunami. Viewers will be able to donate through the Red Cross
Web site or a donation hotline.
