Underground '60s film features Floyd soundtrack

Basho Records will release Peter Sykes's 1968 film "The Committee" on July 4. It features a musical score composed and performed by Pink Floyd.

The 55-minute, black and white film, starring Paul Jones of Manfred Mann, was rarely shown after its '68 run in London's West End, and it's never been made available on VHS nor DVD.

Based on a fable by Max Steuer, now a lecturer at the London School of Economic, the film explores the conflict between bureaucracy and individual freedoms.

The DVD includes an interview with director Sykes and producer/writer Steuer. A bonus CD packaged with the DVD contains the song "The Committee," written by Jones and Steuer and arranged by Tim Whitehead for the Homemade Orchestra; plus two tracks from earlier Homemade Orchestra CDs.

The disc is NTSC Region 0, designed to play in most modern DVD players regardless of country.

"The Committee" can be purchased online from Jazz CDs for £15.99.

More details about the film are available at www.thecommitteethemovie.com.
