Pink Floyd co-founder succumbs to complications of diabetes
Pink
Floyd co-founder Syd
Barrett has died at his Cambridgeshire home. He was
60.
Barrett died
last Friday from complications of diabetes.
"He died
very peacefully a couple of days ago," said the band's spokeswoman.
"There will be a private family funeral."
Barrett joined
Pink Floyd in 1965, but left the band three years later after only
one album (1967's "The Piper
at the Gates of Dawn") due to his deteriorating mental
condition, augmented by drug use.
After releasing
two solo albums in 1970 ("Barrett"
and "The Madcap Laughs"),
Barrett became one of rock's more celebrated recluses for more than
three decades.
