{"id":10139,"date":"2020-09-24T09:39:25","date_gmt":"2020-09-24T13:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=10139"},"modified":"2020-09-24T09:44:54","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T13:44:54","slug":"delicate-sound-of-thunder-to-be-re-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2020\/09\/delicate-sound-of-thunder-to-be-re-released\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Delicate Sound of Thunder&#8221; to be re-released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/dsot.jpg\"><\/a>Sony Music<\/strong> will re-release <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;Delicate Sound of Thunder&#8221; on Nov. 20.<\/p>\n<p>The Grammy award-nominated film and live album, a document of the band&#8217;s &#8220;A Momentary Lapse of Reason&#8221; tour of 1987-89, will be re-issued on Blu-ray, DVD, 3LPs, 2CDs and deluxe editions with remixed 5.1 Surround Sound.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the live album and full concert film included with The Later Years boxset last November, all editions of &#8217;20 re-issue will include a 40-page photo booklet, tour poster and postcards. The 3-LP 180-gram vinyl set includes nine songs not included on the 1988 release of the album. And the 2-CD includes eight tracks more than the original release.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/dsot2.jpg\"><\/a>Filmed at Long Island\u2019s Nassau Coliseum in August 1988 and directed by <strong>Wayne Isham<\/strong>, the re-issued film is sourced from more than 100 cans of original 35mm negatives, restored and transferred to 4K. The film has been re-edited by <strong>Benny Trickett<\/strong> from the restored and upgraded footage under creative direction of <strong>Aubrey Powell\/Hipgnosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The sound has been remixed from the original multitrack tapes by longtime Floyd engineer <strong>Andy Jackson<\/strong> with <strong>David Gilmour<\/strong>, assisted by <strong>Damon Iddins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sony will handle re-release of &#8220;Delicate Sound of Thunder&#8221; outside Europe, while <strong>Warner Music<\/strong> will manage the European release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cinema release still on-hold<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Aug. 20, <strong>Trafalgar Releasing<\/strong> announced the film would play theaters one night only, Oct. 15. The next day, the band&#8217;s Facebook page revealed that event had been postponed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>James Merchant<\/strong>, Trafalgar Head of Film and Music, confirmed for &#8220;Floydian Slip&#8221; today there are no updates on a rescheduled release date for that cinema event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sony Music will re-release Pink Floyd&#8216;s &#8220;Delicate Sound of Thunder&#8221; on Nov. 20.
