She was 76.<\/p>\n<p>St. John, whose real name was <strong>Eliza Janet Thomson<\/strong>, recorded singles in the &#8217;60s as a solo artist before focusing on session work in the &#8217;70s. In December &#8217;65, she hit the U.K. Top 40 with &#8220;Come Away Melinda.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With Pink Floyd, I remember there were five sessions that day and the one for &#8216;Dark Side of the Moon&#8217; was the last one,&#8221; she told The Strange Brew in an interview. &#8220;It was all right but a bit weird. They didn\u2019t seem to smile. I remember <strong>Lesley Duncan<\/strong> told somebody that she didn\u2019t know what we had done wrong because they were so stand-offish.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>St. John can be heard on Dark Side&#8217;s &#8220;Time,&#8221; &#8220;Us and Them,&#8221; and &#8220;Brain Damage\/Eclipse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As a session singer, the Glasgow native worked with <strong>John Lennon<\/strong>, <strong>Bryan Ferry<\/strong>, <strong>Elton John<\/strong>, <strong>John Baldry<\/strong>, <strong>John Cale<\/strong>, <strong>Mott the Hoople<\/strong>\u00a0and many more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We just learned Barry St. John, who sang on Pink Floyd&#8217;s &#8220;The Dark Side of the Moon&#8221; (1973) died last month.
