On Sept. 29, Sony Music\/Legacy Recordings<\/strong> will release “Metallic Spheres in Colour,” a reworking of the 2010 album “Metallic Spheres” by The Orb<\/strong>, featuring David Gilmour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“The idea for ‘Metallic Spheres in Colour’ was that Alex Paterson<\/strong> (founder of The Orb<\/strong>) could have done more on the first version, and he didn\u2019t really have the opportunity because we had a philosophy of making the music like the Blade Runner soundtrack meets \u2018Wish You Were Here,'” according to Youth<\/strong>, producer of the album.<\/p>\n

“So, I asked him why don\u2019t we remix it and make it like an Orb classic? And in doing that, it\u2019s almost like a completely different album.”<\/p>\n

Gilmour’s partnership with The Orb came about when he met Youth in the studio when Gilmour was recording \u201cChicago\/Change The World\u201d by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young<\/strong>, a benefit track for British hacker Gary McKinnon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The album consist of two tracks:<\/p>\n

  1. Seamless Solar Spheres of Affection Mix<\/li>\n
  2. Seamlessly Martian Spheres of Reflection Mix<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
