The metal band’s reworking of the Pink Floyd classic is out now on digital platforms. It’ll be part of the band’s “Merciless” album that drops Nov. 22.<\/p>\n The collaboration began when Ice T contacted Gilmour for permission to cover the song. “I thought I might offer to play on it as well,” Gilmour tells Guitar World. “I like the new lyrics, they’re talking about the world we\u2019re living in now, which is quite scary.”<\/p>\n Lyrics on the new version are by Ice T, replacing those on the original that were by\u00a0Roger Waters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “For me, ‘Comfortably Numb’ is an introspective song,\u201d Ice-T tells the magazine. \u201cIt’s me acknowledging that I’m older now. I’m telling the younger generation, you’ve got two choices: You can keep the fire burning or you can give up.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s me trying to make sense of what’s happening, but also pointing out that we’re all in a place where we don\u2019t have to face reality.\u201d<\/p>\n
