Sony will release a “San Tropez Orange Marble” edition of Pink Floyd<\/strong>‘s 1971 album “Meddle” for National Album Day on Oct. 17.<\/p>\n

To coincide with the reissue, the band will post to its YouTube channel<\/a> the final sequence from the 1973 surfing documentary “Crystal Voyager,” which uses “Echoes” from “Meddle” as its soundtrack.<\/p>\n

Directed by David Elfick<\/strong>, the film was written and narrated by George Greenough<\/strong>, who had received a copy of “Meddle” from his mother. When we heard “Echoes” and realized its 23-minute length fit perfectly the sequence in the film, he travelled to London to request permission from the band.<\/p>\n

Without a budget to pay for its use in the movie, he struck a deal with Floyd: He and Elfick could use the track in their film, as long as the band could project scenes from the film Floyd’s live shows.<\/p>\n

The band’s website points visitors to the official Record Store Day website<\/a> for pre-orders.<\/p>\n
