{"id":1656,"date":"2010-08-18T09:52:41","date_gmt":"2010-08-18T13:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=1656"},"modified":"2010-08-18T09:52:41","modified_gmt":"2010-08-18T13:52:41","slug":"orb-album-to-feature-david-gilmour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2010\/08\/orb-album-to-feature-david-gilmour\/","title":{"rendered":"Orb album to feature David Gilmour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Orb<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;Metallic Spheres&#8221; album, to be released this fall, will feature guitar work by <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>David Gilmour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Gilmour&#8217;s contributions come from a jam session with <strong>Martin &#8220;Youth&#8221; Glover <\/strong>(Killing Joke), originally intended only for an ambient remix of &#8220;Chicago,&#8221; the <strong>Graham Nash<\/strong> song Gilmour helped re-record to benefit alleged UK computer hacker and <em>cause celebre<\/em> <strong>Gary McKinnon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Metallic Spheres&#8221; will be released in October, with all artist royalties going to benefit McKinnon&#8217;s plight to fight extradition to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>There will be two versions of the CD release: A standard, single-disc version; and a two-disc deluxe set. The deluxe version will include the standard CD, along with a second disc presenting the material in 3D60\u2122 sound.<\/p>\n<p>3D60\u2122 is a new sound production process developed by Glover, sound engineer <strong>Mike Brady <\/strong>(The Jam) and <strong>Ian Thompson<\/strong> that simulates three-dimensional sound without any special equipment needed.<\/p>\n<p>The album will also be available on vinyl and as a download on iTunes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Orb&#8216;s &#8220;Metallic Spheres&#8221; album, to be released this fall, will feature guitar work by Pink Floyd&#8216;s David Gilmour.
