Easy Action<\/strong> plans to release one of the last known live performances of Pink Floyd<\/strong> co-founder Syd Barrett<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The label’s managing director, Carlton Sandercock<\/strong>, tells “Floydian Slip,” “We have indeed purchased and are preparing to release a live set by The Last Minute Put Together Boogie Band <\/strong>featuring Bruce Pain<\/strong>, Jack Monk<\/strong> and Twink<\/strong>. Guesting is Fred Frith<\/strong> and, on two maybe three songs, Syd Barrett.<\/p>\n

“The music played in this set is a million miles away from anything\u00a0Pink Floyd have ever done,” he adds.<\/p>\n

The performance was recorded Jan. 27, 1972, at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge, England.<\/p>\n

    Auction house Bonhams<\/strong> put up for bid a reel tape of the show in June 2010. Expecting to fetch $5,000, the item didn’t meet its reserve price and was later sold to Easy Action. (See “Rare Syd Barrett recording up for auction”<\/a> and “Rare Barrett recording goes unsold<\/a>“)<\/p>\n

    The label plans to release the recording, possibly as a vinyl-only release to being with, in March.<\/p>\n
