{"id":5889,"date":"2014-12-12T09:58:52","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T13:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=5889"},"modified":"2014-12-12T09:58:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T13:58:52","slug":"dark-side-returns-to-billboard-top-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2014\/12\/dark-side-returns-to-billboard-top-20\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Dark Side&#8221; returns to Billboard Top 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;The Dark Side of the Moon&#8221; (1973) climbed to the #13 position on the <strong>Billboard<\/strong> 200 album chart.<\/p>\n<p>The album sold just more than 38,000 &#8220;album equivalent units&#8221; last week, resulting in its best chart showing since Oct. 15, 2011, when it re-entered the Top 20 at #12 thanks to a new re-issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dark Side&#8221; has spent 889 weeks on the chart, the most-charted weeks for any album in the history of the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n<p>Billboard speculates the album&#8217;s jump this week was due to a price discount on &#8220;Dark Side&#8221; offered by the <strong>Google Play<\/strong> store the week ending Dec. 7.<\/p>\n<p>The calculations that determine the Billboard 200 have become more complex recently. The chart now measures &#8220;multi-metric album consumption,&#8221; which includes &#8220;pure album sales.&#8221; The ranking combines on-demand streaming and digital sales in addition to traditional album sales, all measured by <strong>Nielsen Music<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pink Floyd&#8216;s &#8220;The Dark Side of the Moon&#8221; (1973) climbed to the #13 position on the Billboard 200 album chart.
