{"id":6054,"date":"2015-03-01T12:54:03","date_gmt":"2015-03-01T16:54:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=6054"},"modified":"2015-03-01T13:15:09","modified_gmt":"2015-03-01T17:15:09","slug":"floydian-slips-bizarre-collection-of-antiques-curios-3-the-genesis-cassette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2015\/03\/floydian-slips-bizarre-collection-of-antiques-curios-3-the-genesis-cassette\/","title":{"rendered":"Floydian Slip&#8217;s Bizarre Collection of Antiques &#038; Curios #3: The genesis cassette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>As we lead up to\u00a0\u201cFloydian Slip\u201d Show #1,000 the week of June 8, we\u2019re digging into the archives to share relics from the show\u2019s past.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In December 1987, I was home from college for winter break, when my friend <strong>Greg Perez<\/strong> passed me a cassette copy he&#8217;d made from &#8220;The Dark Side of the Moon.&#8221; My knowledge of Pink Floyd was limited, but he assured me I needed to give it a listen.<\/p>\n<p>If my memory&#8217;s correct, we were about to enter a bar in Winooski, Vt., just outside Burlington. And though I later labeled the J-card with a source of &#8220;CD,&#8221; I think Greg had duped it from an LP.<\/p>\n<p>I usually cite that cassette \u2014 the &#8220;genesis cassette&#8221; \u2014 as what sparked my interest in the band, which led to my starting &#8220;Floydian Slip&#8221; a little more than a year later, January &#8217;89.<\/p>\n<p>So much for the dangers of illegal taping.
