{"id":6490,"date":"2015-06-27T08:34:59","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T12:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=6490"},"modified":"2015-06-27T08:34:59","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T12:34:59","slug":"detailscorrections-syd-barrett-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2015\/06\/detailscorrections-syd-barrett-documentary\/","title":{"rendered":"Details\/corrections: Syd Barrett documentary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we reported on an upcoming documentary film devoted to <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong> co-founder <strong>Syd Barrett<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve since make contact with a source close to the project who offered more details and a couple of corrections of statements originally published by <strong>NME<\/strong> and <strong>Mojo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The film&#8217;s full working title is &#8220;Barrett: Have You Got It Yet?&#8221; And, contrary to yesterday&#8217;s reports, the film is not scheduled for release later this year. The source tells us the film hasn&#8217;t yet been completed, and will likely be released in mid-2016. In fact, director <strong>Roddy Bogawa<\/strong> recently completed four days of shooting in London, interviewing drummer <strong>Jerry Shirley<\/strong> of <strong>Humble Pie<\/strong>, who recorded with Barrett after he left Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>The project began while Bogawa was working on &#8220;Taken By Storm,&#8221; his 2012 film about Floyd sleeve designer <strong>Storm Thorgerson<\/strong>. <strong>Ron Dickinson<\/strong> of <strong>Catherine Wheel<\/strong> attended a Los Angeles showing of &#8220;Taken By Storm&#8221; and suggested to Thorgerson that Bogawa make a film about Barrett.<\/p>\n<p>According to our source, Thorgerson &#8220;was at almost all of the interviews,&#8221; including those with Floyd&#8217;s <strong>David Gilmour<\/strong>, <strong>Nick Mason<\/strong> and <strong>Roger Waters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our source tell us the filmmakers have also interviewed &#8220;former Pink Floyd managers, lighting director, childhood friends, girlfriends, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because Storm grew up with many of these people, he not only knows the cast of characters well, but also was able to elicit &#8230; more honest interviews from his old friends,&#8221; the source adds.<\/p>\n<p>Others interviewed so far include photographer <strong>Mick Rock<\/strong> and <strong>Julian Palacios<\/strong>, author of &#8220;Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd: Dark Globe&#8221; (2010).<\/p>\n<p>The film&#8217;s team includes producer <strong>Orian Williams<\/strong>, a producer of the 2007 film &#8220;Control&#8221; about <strong>Joy Division<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Ian Curtis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we reported on an upcoming documentary film devoted to Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett.
