Algie, the inflatable pig that famously flew over the Battersea Power Station on the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1977 “Animals” album, won’t be going up for bid after all.<\/p>\n
Thursday we reported Durrants<\/strong> would be auctioning the pig, along with a number of other rock and roll inflatables created by Rob Harries<\/strong>, owner of Air Artists<\/strong> in Halesworth, creator of the items.<\/p>\n Turns out the auction house was premature in listing Algie as part of the auction.<\/p>\n “The auctioneers rather jumped the gun with the list I provided them and publicized the fact the Pink Floyd pig might be one of the lots,” Harries tells the BBC.<\/p>\n “I thought I should offer it back to Pink Floyd and they do want to welcome it home again.”<\/p>\n The Sept. 15 auction will <\/em>still include a 15-foot anatomically-correct pig used by the Floyd after Roger Waters\u2019 departure from the group; and a 60-foot pig\u2019s head and the teacher inflatable used during Waters\u2019 1990 concert of \u201cThe Wall\u201d in Berlin, Germany.<\/p>\n
