{"id":7821,"date":"2017-03-21T08:32:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T12:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=7821"},"modified":"2017-03-21T08:33:25","modified_gmt":"2017-03-21T12:33:25","slug":"early-interstellar-overdrive-to-be-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2017\/03\/early-interstellar-overdrive-to-be-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Early &#8220;Interstellar Overdrive&#8221; to be released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Legacy Recordings will release an early, previously-unreleased version of <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;Interstellar Overdrive&#8221; on April 15.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded Nov. 31, 1966, at Thomson Studio in <span class=\"xn-location\">Hemel Hempstead<\/span>, <span class=\"xn-location\">Hertfordshire, the nearly-15-minute piece features <strong>Syd Barrett<\/strong>, <strong>Nick Mason<\/strong>, <strong>Rick Wright<\/strong> and <strong>Roger Waters<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A shorter version of the instrumental appeared on Floyd&#8217;s first album, &#8220;The Piper at the Gates of Dawn,&#8221; in August 1967.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-inch one-sided single comes a week before Record Store Day; and will be available for sale at &#8220;Their Mortal Remains,&#8221; the massive Floyd exhibition opening\u00a0 at the Victoria &amp; Albert&#8217;s Museum in London in May.<\/p>\n<p>With artwork taken from an early UFO gig, the 180-gram disc will come with a fold-out poster and postcard featuring the group.<\/p>\n<p>This recording would seem to pre-date the version featured in the <strong>Peter Whitehead<\/strong> film &#8220;Tonight Let&#8217;s All Make Love in London,&#8221; and available on the EP &#8220;Pink Floyd: London &#8217;66-&#8217;67.&#8221; Clocking in at just less than 17 minutes, that version was recorded at London&#8217;s Sound Techniques on Jan. 11 and 12, 1967.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Legacy Recordings will release an early, previously-unreleased version of Pink Floyd&#8216;s &#8220;Interstellar Overdrive&#8221; on April 15.
