{"id":8824,"date":"2018-06-12T09:00:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T13:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/?p=8824"},"modified":"2018-06-12T09:00:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-12T13:00:02","slug":"nick-mason-box-set-coming-aug-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/2018\/06\/nick-mason-box-set-coming-aug-31\/","title":{"rendered":"Nick Mason box set coming Aug. 31"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/unattended-luggage.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Warner Music<\/strong> will release a limited edition box set of <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong> drummer <strong>Nick Mason<\/strong>&#8216;s previously-released solo work on Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<p>Titled &#8220;Unattended Luggage,&#8221; it&#8217;ll include three discs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/pink-floyd\/albums\/album.php?id=32\">&#8220;Nick Mason&#8217;s Fictitious Sports&#8221;<\/a> (1981);<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/pink-floyd\/albums\/album.php?id=33\">&#8220;Profiles&#8221;<\/a> (1985); and<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;White of the Eye&#8221; (1987)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The box set will be available in CD and LP formats. Each individual album in the box will also be made available as a digital download and through streaming platforms.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first time in more than 20 years the titles will be available in CD and LP format.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;White of the Eye,&#8221; a film soundtrack Mason recorded with <strong>Rick Fenn<\/strong>, who also collaborated on &#8220;Profiles,&#8221; has never been available on CD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.floydianslip.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/nick-mason-unattended-luggage.jpg\"><\/a>\u201cThese recordings hold a very special place for me in my musical life,&#8221; Mason says. &#8220;\u2018Fictitious Sports\u2019 developed initially from working with <strong>Mike Mantler<\/strong>, <strong>Carla Bley<\/strong>, and <strong>Robert Wyatt<\/strong> on a couple of their projects, and benefited enormously from a whole crew of great musicians that I was introduced to by them at Grog Kill Studios in Woodstock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Profiles\u2019 and \u2018White of the Eye\u2019 were an extension of working with Rick Fenn on some advertising and short documentary film soundtracks, which then developed into something more,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListening back after 30 odd years, I&#8217;m delighted they are getting the reissue treatment.
