“Floydian Slip” coming to WARR (Warrenton, NC)

WARR Floydian Slip” will begin airing on WARR 1520 AM/103.5 FM in Warrenton, NC, next week. The station will carry the show Thursday nights at 7 ET.

WARR is a variety format station serving the Warrenton area in northern North Carolina and southern Virginia.

It’s the latest station to join the Random Precision Radio Network, a collection of more than 110 broadcasters that air “Floydian Slip,” produced in our Shelburne, Vt., studio.

Shine on, Warrenton!

Syd Barrett’s floorboards up for bid

Omega Auctions are selling today the purple and orange floorboards featured on the cover of Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett‘s 1970 album The Madcap Laughs.

Estimated to go for £10,000 ($12,662), as of this writing the current bid is £5,000 ($6,331) with three bids registered.

The Madcap Laughs (Syd Barrett) (1970) Designer Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and photographer Mick Rock shot Barrett crouched on the floor of his London flat for the cover of his The Madcap Laughs album. Prior to the shoot, Barrett painted the floorboards alternating colors of purple and orange.

Today’s seller purchased the flat and removed the boards during renovations. There are approximately 70 planks. Most are approximately 2.7 meters long — just less than 9 feet.

The auction’s webpage offers a number of photos of the flat.

Addendum: The auction ended today with a hammer price of £28,500 ($36,101).
