Join us this week for Floydian Slip #1566: It’s “Storm Effect” — our annual tribute to long-time Pink Floyd cover designer Storm Thorgerson.
Storm died in April 2013, but his work lives on. We’ll be playing music from all sorts of artists with albums designed by Storm and his team at Hipgnosis.

Pink Floyd will release its latest compilation of previously-released material under the title of “8-Tracks” on June 5.
Available on CD and LP, the disc will include eight songs from the the band’s “glory years” of 1971-79.
The highlight will be the full version of “Pigs on the Wing (Parts 1 and 2)” that includes a Snowy White solo in the middle. It was previously available only on the 8-track version of the 1977 “Animals” album; and on White’s 1995 compilation “Goldtop.”
This collection has been edited by Steven Wilson using sound effects from the original multitrack recordings for a continuous listening experience.

Harry Waters, son of Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, is fronting “Legacy,” a new Floyd tribute scheduled to debut in 2027. And he’s looking for a vocalist.
“We’re looking for a singer who can sound like Dad did when he was young,” his website reads. “Are you that person?”
The project is billed on his site as “a Pink Floyd show performed by the Harry Waters Band” and “presented” by Roger Waters. The band plans to begin touring in February next year for 20 weeks, five weeks at a stretch with breaks in between.
“My son Harry has put a great band and show together to go on the road next year to pay tribute to the music from the golden era of Pink Floyd and maybe a couple of songs from my subsequent solo career,” a message from the elder Waters reads on the site.
“Harry’s band is missing one thing. The voice I had when I was young.
“Back in the day, I could sing everything from the soft urgency of ‘Hello, is there anybody in there?’ from ‘Comfortably Numb’, to the high-pitched scream of ‘You know how I need you to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night’ from ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’.
“Can you do that? Are you that missing voice? If you are, this is your chance. This is an open invitation to audition for Harry’s band. I’m serious.”
The site includes a form for singers to submit audition tapes. “You can pick whichever songs you want to sing/record in any manner you wish,” the form explains. “Just be sure it’s a Roger song.”
Audition deadline is April 30.
Harry, who toured with his father for 15 years, is a pianist, songwriter and composer. He’s also performed with Eddie Vedder, Tom Jones, Marianne Faithfull, Ween, Ozric Tentacles, Les Claypool and Sean Ono Lennon.
He compares his piano style to Vladimir Horowitz, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Arthur Rubinstein, Dr. John and Professor Longhair.
