Roger Waters’ “Conan” appearance online

Posted December 16, 2010 by Floydian Slip

If you missed last night’s “Conan” on TBS, you can watch Conan O’Brien‘s interview with Roger Waters on Waters’ Web site.

The chat seemed a little awkward — maybe bordering on contentious at a couple points.

Anyone else think so?

Clarification: Floyd reunion a near miss

Posted November 29, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Last week we reported (“Floyd reunion a near miss”) the world very nearly saw a reunion of the surviving members of Pink Floyd, but when the venue turned out to be the home of a wealthy socialite, drummer Nick Mason pulled out.

What we didn’t make clear — or understand ourselves! — was the reunion in question was this past July’s Hoping Foundation charity event when Roger Waters and David Gilmour shared a stage.

The pair got Andy Newmark (“The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking,” “The Final Cut”) to sit in for Mason.

Ron Geesin to appear on Floydian Slip

Posted November 21, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Avant-garde multimedia artist Ron Geesin will appear on “Floydian Slip” next weekend.

Geesin collaborated on the 1970 film soundtrack “Music from The Body” with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters. That album turns 40 years old Nov. 28.

Geesin also worked with the band on its 1970 “Atom Heart Mother” album, struggling to handle orchestrations on the epic “Atom Heart Mother Suite” while the band was away on tour.

Geesin is only the fourth guest to appear on “Floydian Slip” in the show’s 20-year history. Sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson was on the show in 1997; sound engineer Andy Jackson appeared in 2001; and “Wall” artist Gerald Scarfe was a guest just a few weeks ago.

Geesin will appear on show #764, which will air Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 27 and 28.
