Video: Roger Waters on “Late Night”

Posted May 6, 2010 by Floydian Slip

In case you missed it, here’s streaming video — in two parts — of Roger Waters‘ appearance last night on the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show.

Fallon begins by confessing he’s a huge fan, and then goes on to prove it with his nearly breathless interview in which he gets Waters to talk about Pink Floyd’s early days, Syd Barrett‘s infamous visit to the studio while the band was making “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” and Waters’ recent venture into Facebook.

Former Floyd manager to appear on BBC Radio 2

Posted May 4, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Once-Pink Floyd manager Peter Jenner will appear on BBC Radio 2’s “The Radcliffe & Maconie Show,” next Monday night at 10 (local time).

Jenner and Andrew King founded Blackhill Enterprises to become Floyd’s first management company in 1966. They split with the band when Syd Barrett departed in ’68.

Jenner has managed a number of notable bands, including: T. Rex, The Clash, Billy Bragg and Robyn Hitchcock.

Hitchcock will also be a guest on the show, playing at least one Barrett number.

Roger Waters to appear on Jimmy Fallon show

Posted May 1, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters will be a guest on NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” this coming Wednesday, May 5.

Oddly, Waters will be a guest on the show, but not the musical guest, which will be The New Pornographers.

This is the first time in a long time, to our memory, any member of Floyd has sat down on a major network talk show. We hope it’s an indication of things to come as Waters ramps up for his North American/European tour of “The Wall,” which starts Sept. 15 in Toronto.

“Late Night” is broadcast at 12:35 a.m. Eastern time.

McCartney takes back catalog from EMI

Posted April 21, 2010 by Floydian Slip

EMI‘s troubles got a little worse with news Paul McCartney will move his back catalog to a different label.

EMI is Pink Floyd‘s long-time label. The financially-troubled company suffered a setback last month when a court ruled in the band’s favor regarding online sales of individual Floyd tracks (“Court sides with Floyd over online sales“).

McCartney is moving to Concord Music Group, an independent label in California, which has released his last couple albums.

EMI has also seen The Rolling Stones leave, with the band’s back catalog; and Radiohead.
