Mason, Jackson hint at more reissues to come

Posted February 8, 2012 by Floydian Slip

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and long-time recording engineer for the band Andy Jackson have told Billboard more reissues might be on the way following this month’s boxset of “The Wall.”

“The idea was always to see whether people like these things or not. If they do, of course we could do more,” Mason says.

“There’s quite a bit of very, very early stuff, before they had a deal, with Syd (Barrett) in the band when they were still trying to be an R&B band,” says Jackson, who’s been a major player behind the boards of the entire “Why Pink Floyd?” remaster campaign.

“It’s not, like, early versions of songs that turned up on their albums or anything. It’s R&B classics, the same as everybody else was playing back them,” he adds. “There’s a lot of recordings that may be brilliant for a future project.”

“The Wall” will be released Feb. 28.

A couple weeks ago on “Floydian Slip” we played an early band demo of “Young Lust.”  Be listening for “The Doctor,” an early version of “Comfortably Numb,” on Show #828, airing on all 30 Random Precision Radio Network stations Feb. 16-22.

in my music group i am the only Floyd/Gilmour fan but i am so glad i found Floydian Slip. my toes and fingers are crossed for an Animals immersion collection to be released. the overall aggression is elegant. and i like the mix and slips i hear every week. thank you FS.

this is great to hear, i welcome anything Floyd…cannot wait to get the Wall box, and i agree with the post above in saying that an Animals box would be a smash. from there i would love to hear all the demo takes and jam sessions that went into the making of ummagumma and obscured by clouds.

  3. @ tbroughton : Thanks for the kinds words. As for an “Animals” reissue, Nick says it’s a possibility.

I could not agree more with “t broughton’s” remarks about an “Animals” immersion pack! I have bought the “WYWH” pack, am going to buy “DSOTM” soon and am REALLY DISAPPOINTED that there is not one for “Animals”! It is my absolute favourite “nasty” album and “Pigs (Three Different Ones)” is as good as anything that they’ve produced in my opinion!
