Surrogate Bands contest winner: Lucas Ballesteros

Posted July 7, 2014 by Floydian Slip

Lucas Ballesteros of Buenos Aires, Argentina, won our 4th Annual Surrogate Bands Pink Floyd Cover Contest.

Ballesteros took top prize with his one-man-band rendition of Floyd’s “Echoes.”

“I played and recorded as a solo-experimental-hobby-independent artist since I can remember,” Lucas tells us. “Currently I’m playing and recording my own stuff in my home studio. I finished an album recorded in my home studio from 2003 to 2008, still unreleased.

“I think it’s time to go pro and get out of the bedroom studio,” he adds.

We couldn’t agree more.

Ballesteros receives $200 in Pink Floyd merchandise from The Official Web Store of Pink Floyd.

Second prize, selected from all entries by random draw, went to Don Horn of band AITX of Ontario, Ohio. Don gets a Pink Floyd periodical package including four magazines featuring the group or its members on the cover: Uncut (November 2013), Guitar World (Holiday 2013), Record Collector (August 2013) and Classic Rock presents Prog (September 2010).

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest.

  1. EG says:

Has Lucas recorded a CD with his version of Pink Floyd’s “ECHOES”? Would like to purchase if possible.

  2. He’s recorded quite a bit of material, but has not released anything commercially.

I’ll pass your email address on to him, so he can get in touch with you, if he’d like.
