Roger Waters has talked about creating a musical theater adaptation of “The Wall” for more than a decade. This week he revealed some of the key team members working on the project.

Water told the Standard he will co-produce “The Wall” with Eric Fellner of Working Title productions, which staged “Billy Elliot The Musical”; he’ll write the adaptation with Lee Hall, who wrote the “Billy Elliot” book and lyrics, as well as the film’s screenplay. The show will be directed by Simon McBurney.

“Billy Elliot” premiered in London’s West End in 2005 and was nominated for nine Laurence Olivier Awards, winning four. Elton John wrote the show’s music.

“The plan is to stage it in London first,” Waters says. “I’ve set up a production company with Eric Fellner but there’s no time-frame yet.”

Waters has said in the past he plans to inject some humor into the production.

“The Wall” was made into a film in 1982, directed by Alan Parker.
