Thanks for playing The Great Gig in the Sky. I recently enjoyed live versions of the song by David Gilmour (part of the newly released Live at Pompeii) and Roger Waters (seen live in Hartford, Conn.). The alternate vocalists employed by both had commendable range, but it’s simply impossible to duplicate Clare Torrey’s masterful impromptu wailing that was thankfully captured for the album version.
