Following yesterday’s news of 120 of David Gilmour‘s guitars going on the auction block (“David Gilmour’s Black Strat and other guitars to be auctioned after going on display”), we located this short video auctioneers Christie’s produced.

Fascinating viewing for Gilmour fans and any musical gearhead.

  1. Keith says:

Wish I had the bucks to buy his “Black Strat” or any of his collection. I don’t play any musical instrument, but appreciate the sound of a Stratocaster. Nothing can beat the sound quality; at least in my opinion. Not surprised to hear the money will be put into his charity. David impresses me as the most approachable and personable of the Floyd. I remember reading in the MOJO magazine issue about Syd that Mary said that David was the only member of the band that really cared about Syd after his departure.

  2. Bryan Hughes says:

Whatever you do, don’t sell any to Pete Townshend: He’ll smash it to bits!

  3. Brian Edwards says:

I fell in love with Pink Floyd when I was about 10 years old and first heard The Dark Side of the Moon and still to this day consider David Gilmour the second greatest guitar player ever! Only Hendrix is above him in my opinion and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him in concert 5 times, being a novice player myself I would almost kill to own one. So I have a feeling that there will be allot of money going to charities from the sell of those 120 guitars is it. Thank you Mr. Gilmour and “Shine On”!
