“Floydian Slip” coming to Fenland Youth Radio

“Floydian Slip” will begin airing on Fenland Youth Radio (FYR) in Whittlesey, Cambs, U.K., starting Sunday, Jan 31. The station will carry the show Sundays at 9 p.m. GMT.

FYR is a station operated by young people and streaming from “The Fens,” a district in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire. The station is expecting to be granted a license soon to allow it to serve the local area via digital audio broadcasting (DAB).

FYR is the latest station to join the Random Precision Radio Network, a collection of more than 100 broadcasters that air “Floydian Slip,” produced in our Shelburne, Vt., studio.

David Gilmour signature editions from Martin

David Gilmour has partnered with C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. to create two signature edition guitars to benefit the David Gilmour Charitable Foundation.

The Martin D-35 David Gilmour is a nod to the guitar Gilmour purchased used outside Manny’s Music Shop in New York City in the early-’70s. His primary acoustic for more than 40 years, the instrument fetched $1.2 million as part of a charitable auction of his guitars in 2019.

The 6- and 12-string versions sell for $5,499.

New Syd Barrett tribute CD

On Wednesday Jan. 6, Gonzo Multimedia released “Love You: A Tribute to Syd Barrett,” a 2-CD collection of re-makes of songs originally recorded by Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett.

The disc comes on the 50th anniversary of Barrett’s two post-Floyd solo albums — “The Madcap Laughs” and “Barrett” — and on what would have been his 75th birthday. (Barrett died July 7, 2006.)

The collection includes a cover of “Two of a Kind” by Dave Harris and Zeus B Held. Harris, formerly of Fashion, teamed with Floyd’s Rick Wright in 1984 to released the LP “Identity” under the name Zee.

Artwork for “Love You: A Tribute to Syd Barrett” is by Barrett’s nephew Ian Barrett; and Matteo Regattin, author of graphic novel “Syd Barrett Jugband Blues: A Graphic Trip on the Tracks of Syd Barrett.”
