Surrogate Bands contest postponed until ’22

Posted April 23, 2021 by Floydian Slip

We’ve decided to postpone for another year the “Floydian Slip” Surrogate Bands Pink Floyd Cover Contest.

Last spring, due to the pandemic, we postponed what would have been our 10th annual contest with hopes to bring it back in ’21.

With the vaccine rolling out now, we’re optimistic for the future, but feel it still might not be responsible to ask musicians to gather in close quarters of recording studios to lay down tracks to submit to the contest.

We’ll hopefully announce details of our 10th annual contest in Spring ’22.

We began Surrogate Bands in 2011 as a way for musicians to celebrate the music of Pink Floyd by recording their own versions of Floyd songs to submit to the contest. Winners have been featured during “Surrogate Bands,” a special all-covers edition of the “Floydian Slip” radio show, broadcast every July.

The “Surrogate Bands” program will air as scheduled this July, without the contest element.
