Drummer Clive Welham, one-time bandmate of David Gilmour and Syd Barrett, has died.
Welham played with Geoff Mott and the Mottoes in 1962, a band that included Barrett. A little later, he went on to work with The Ramblers and Jokers Wild, bands that included Gilmour.

Submit your own recording of a Floyd song for a chance to win some great prizes and have your song aired on the “Floydian Slip” radio show.
One first prize winner will get $100 in Pink Floyd merchandise from The Official Web Store of Pink Floyd. And … we’ll air their recording during a special all-covers edition of the “Floydian Slip” radio show: Our “Surrogate Bands” special will run for a week starting July 5 on all 32 “Floydian Slip” affiliate stations.
Second prize is a hardcover copy of Mark Blake’s “Comfortably Numb: The Inside Story of Pink Floyd” and a CD copy of “A Foot in the Door: The Best of Pink Floyd.”

“Floydian Slip” will begin airing on Xtreme Metal Radio next weekend. The station will carry the show Sundays at 2 p.m. ET.
Xtreme Metal Radio is an online station dedicated to metal, with, apparently, a weekly diversion into Pink Floyd.
More than 30 affiliate stations have now joined the show’s Random Precision Radio Network, created in Summer 2009 when we began syndicating our show from our Vermont studio.

Contact Music reports Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour threw a 50th birthday party for his wife, writer Polly Samson, on Friday.
The event took place for family and friends at the 20th Century Theatre in Notting Hill in London. It also marked the couple’s 20th anniversary together. Samson’s birthday is actually today, April 29.
Gilmour played “Where We Start” from his 2006 “On an Island” album, a song Samson inspired.

Maybe it’s just the graphic design geek in yours truly, but a collection of mosaic reproductions of famous album art recently caught our eye — particularly a remake of Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon” (1973).
